This cannabis startup pioneered “rapid onset” gummies
Most people prefer to smoke cannabis but that isn’t an option if you’re at work or in public.
That’s why we were so excited when we found out about Mood’s new Rapid Onset THC Gummies. They can take effect in as little as 5 minutes without the need for a lighter, lingering smells or any coughing.
Nobody will ever know you’re enjoying some THC.
We recommend you try them out because they offer a 100% money-back guarantee. And for a limited time, you can receive 20% off with code FIRST20.

Ventura County! Thank you for joining us this week. We received positive feedback regarding last week’s issue, reinforcing our belief that food is the gateway to everyone’s heart. We plan to write about more of our favorite restaurants, bars, hotels, and local attractions. Memorial Day Weekend is right around the corner. Traditionally, this is one of the last weekends to hit the beach, the lake, or to BBQ at home. Southern California is non-traditional in many ways, as we are fortunate enough to be blessed with many more opportunities to bask in the sun. Whether you choose to go out, or stay in this weekend, we hope you enjoy the extra day off. Without further ado, let’s catch this week’s wave 🌊

Writing letters has become a thing of the past, it’s something so antiquated that Boomers don’t even partake. They’ve migrated all of their letter writing to Facebook. The last time I hand-wrote a letter was probably in 1999. I was sitting in a creaky desk in my Junior High classroom, concentrating on what I can only describe as an unintelligible love note. I fancied myself a sophisticated young man and not the punk kid that I indeed was. Lord only knows the contents of said letter, but I’m sure it consisted of song lyrics, inside jokes, and terrible grammar. As times have changed, writing styles have changed, and letter writing has morphed into online commenting. The internet has given the common man the opportunity to shine. Online comments range from “Wow, what a great photo” to “This has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.” Online review platforms like Yelp, Trip Advisor, and Google can make or break small businesses, which causes me to have a love hate relationship with them, but damn are they addicting. I've spent more time reading Yelp reviews than biographies, and I love biographies. 🤓
Our present glimpse into the past of American life is thoroughly documented in private journals. One of my favorites belonged to General George Washington, the first president of our Country. At the time of his recorded travels President Washington lived in relative luxury. He was able to afford imported goods at his home residence in Mount Vernon. When Washington would stay in New York and Philadelphia, he was attended to by his slaves. It was his travels to less metropolitan places like Charlotte or Marblehead that truly paint a picture of common American’s life at the time.
Currently, Americans debate the effectiveness and necessity of rules, regulatory bodies, and licenses. The truth is, these topics are as old as our country. A typical licensing law for taverns in the early 1800s required that they keep at least 3 feather beds and stabling for 6 horses. From what I’ve learned from Washington’s diary entries; some of the taverns he stayed in while traversing the new country could not provide the bare requirements. Rural towns were typically under less pressure and formal governance to fulfill their obligations, while the more “touristy” towns had Inn’s that were more akin to today’s resort spa’s. Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy you a clean room, a bathtub, and a covered space for your horse.
What did Washington actually have to say? I’m glad you ask. Some of my favorite journal entries come from trips Washington took from New York to the south that spanned from 1789-1791. While documenting his stay at Jacob’s in Thompson, Washington wrote “It is not a good house, and it is off an intolerable road.” This was one of his milder critiques. In the rural south Washington stated “there is not a single house with anything of an elegant appearance.” George was also quick to flame a botanical garden, which disappointed him. “The shrubs were trifling, and the flowers not numerous.” Mr. Washington had something similar to say about the entire town of Charlotte. “It’s a very trifling place.” Shout out to Destiny’s Child for reviving the word trifling with their hit 1999 song, “Bills, Bills, Bills”
I appreciate George keeping his reviews short. I’m sure he did not anticipate his private diary being read in 2024. If someone happens to read this article, or any of my past Yelp reviews in the year 2257, I hope they are gentle, kind, or at a minimum, mildly amused.

Ladies & Gentlemen, football 🏈 season is here. Friday night’s are now for high school football, Saturday’s are reserved for College football, and the NFL dominates Sunday’s. Whether you are a casual fan, or a fantasy football expert, we will try our best to cover the highlights. 🏟
Locally there has been some movement in all 3 local leagues; Marmonte, Pacific View, and Channel Leagues. The Marmonte league is considered to be the strongest division of the 3; featuring perennial powerhouses St. Bonaventura, and Oaks Christian, as well as newer kids on the block, Pacifica High School. All teams will be competing this Friday at 7pm.
UCLA & USC kickoff their regular seasons this weekend. UCLA will be playing an away game this Saturday in Honolulu at the University of Hawaii, while USC has a very tough matchup against the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on Sunday.

My Favorite Places to Watch Football in the County
If you don’t feel like hosting, and need a place to meet with friends, I have you covered. By no means is this list exhaustive, but it’s where I find myself when I want to keep track of multiple games. With that being said, in order to qualify for my list you must have NFL Sunday Ticket, and multiple TV’s.
Cronies Bar & Grill. Cronies has 5 locations, but three of them stand out above the rest. Ventura, Camarillo, and Newbury Park. What separates Cronie’s from other sports bars? Ice cold schooners, and well placed televisions.
BLVD Burger in Camarillo. BLVD’s food is significantly better than the average sports bar. Their beer selection is top notch, and rotates regularly. It’s also family friendly. I’ve yet to have a drunk person yell in my face about why this year is their teams year, and that’s a huge plus in my book.
Social Tap in Ventura also happens to be one of my favorite places to catch UFC Fights. They have TV’s spread out throughout the entire restaurant, and a large menu that can satisfy both picky and bougie eaters.
Boney Mountain Pizza Company in Newbury Park. This is a great place to watch football. They must have 20 TV’s throughout the building. The pizza isn’t my favorite, but I’m a bit of a pizza snob. The chicken wings are solid, they have a full bar, and over 20 beers on draft. The other selling point is their padded chairs. If you butt is as flat as mine, you’ll appreciate them too.
